Wastewater contains thousands of bacteria, some of which can be hazardous to health. Discharging wastewater into a sensitive environment can be problematic and pose a health risk. Effluent disinfection is therefore required in certain situations to reduce the risk of contamination.
Wastewater contains thousands of bacteria, some of which can be hazardous to health. Discharging wastewater into a sensitive environment can be problematic and pose a health risk. Effluent disinfection is therefore required in certain situations to reduce the risk of contamination. Enviro-STEP Technologies offers an ultraviolet (UV) radiation disinfection solution. UV disinfection is an extremely compact and effective solution when used in conjunction with a secondary or advanced secondary treatment system such as those offered by Enviro-STEP Technologies. It is also a non-mechanical and very affordable solution. All you have to do is leave the lamp on, clean it a few times a year, and run water through it at a controlled flow rate, and the disinfection takes care of itself. Our UV units are fully pre-assembled and ready for installation. Our systems can consist of a single lamp or several lamps in parallel to increase capacity or efficiency.

Specification
It is well known that light emitted at a certain wavelength can be very powerful. The sun's rays and their ability to burn the skin are one example. When light is emitted at a specific wavelength in the ultraviolet spectrum, these rays penetrate the cells of coliform bacteria and disintegrate their DNA, causing them to die. This takes only a few seconds.
By using ultraviolet disinfection in treated wastewater at a level where its clarity allows UV rays to pass through, it is possible to destroy 99.99% of coliform bacteria and generate effluent that meets the highest health standards.
When the receiving environment is sensitive, such as a lake, ditch, or intermittent watercourse, UV disinfection at the end of treatment is an extremely effective solution.
Performance
UV disinfection allows the standard of 200 fecal coliform units per 100 ml to be met. This is equivalent to the minimum requirement for recreational use of a watercourse.
Your questions, our answers
