FILTRO-FLEX filters are fully prefabricated, modular intermittent recirculation granular filters. They are specially designed to be easily delivered, handled, and installed on site to suit the desired design flow rate. Their modular design allows for easy capacity increases to grow with your needs. This is the ideal solution for residential developments or any scalable project developed in several phases.
Proven technologies for decades, FILTRO-FLEX systems are a passive wastewater filtration solution that can meet advanced secondary level standards. FILTRO-FLEX systems are delivered with all their water distribution and collection components and only need to be filled with the filter media on site. The filter media is readily available from granular material quarries and consists of fine, uniform-sized gravel (screenings or abrasive type). The service life of the filter for domestic wastewater treatment often exceeds 20 years.
Customers looking for a high-performance solution that does not contain mechanical components will be attracted to FILTRO-FLEX. Simple and robust in design, it requires minimal maintenance.
Depending on your project's discharge requirements, we can supplement the treatment with UV disinfection or phosphorus removal, if necessary.
Enviro-STEP Technology assists its customers and designers in sizing FILTRO-FLEX systems and enhances our offering by providing our customers with the septic tanks, mixing tanks, and dosing equipment required for this type of system. This means you will obtain 100% of your treatment system components from the same supplier, ensuring uniformity, compatibility, competitiveness, and longevity.

Simple and low maintenance
With a simple design and no mechanical components, it requires minimal maintenance.
High processing performance
The Filtro-Flex provides advanced secondary effluent treatment.
Flexibility
Offered in modules, its capacity can be easily increased, allowing your system to evolve at the same pace as your needs.

Specifications
Each module includes a sturdy concrete box, a filtered water collection system, a specific filter material (added on site), a low-pressure water distribution network, and an insulating mulch layer. Unlike conventional versions built entirely on site with a waterproofing membrane, FILTRO-FLEX can be installed without concern for temperature, soil conditions (no risk of tearing or puncturing), or groundwater levels.
Performance
FILTRO-FLEX offers advanced secondary treatment performance and can be combined with a disinfection and/or dephosphatation system if required to achieve tertiary treatment performance. Enviro-STEP Technologies can also supply the mixing tank, dosing tank, and other peripheral equipment to complete the treatment chain.

- Modularity and Flexibility: Its modular design allows for easy capacity increases to evolve with needs, making it an ideal solution for residential developments or phased projects.
- Installation: The modules are pre-assembled and designed for easy delivery, handling, and installation on site.
- Simplicity of Operation and Maintenance: FILTRO-FLEX stands out for its simplicity and flexibility of operation, with easy maintenance.
- Durability: Its concrete design makes it durable and independent of soil and groundwater conditions compared to conventional granular filters.
- Robust Operation: It is capable of withstanding variations in flow rates and pollutant loads.
Your questions, our answers
What exactly is the “medium” inside?
The Filtro-Flex uses synthetic fibers (often in the form of blocks or pieces of fabric) to filter water. Unlike older sand filtration systems, this media is designed to prevent rapid clogging and to provide a large surface area for bacteria that “eat” pollutants.
Does the filter need to be replaced?
The answer: Yes, but not very often. The filter media has an average lifespan of 15 to 20 years, provided the system is properly maintained and you do not pour toxic substances (paint, solvents, excess bleach) down the drains.
The cost: Replacing the filter media is the most significant expense after the initial purchase.
Why is a mandatory annual maintenance contract required?
In Quebec (and in several other jurisdictions), Regulation Q-2, r.2 requires a maintenance contract for advanced secondary treatment systems.
Inspection: A technician must visit once a year to ensure that the media is not clogging and that the water jets are properly distributed.
Compliance: Without this contract, you are in violation of your municipality’s regulations.
