The FLOUT (Floating Outlet) is a passive effluent dosing device used in autonomous wastewater treatment systems.
Its operation is extremely simple, robust, and fail-safe, based on the principle of a flush toilet. The FLOUT overflow is assembled on a drain pipe held in place by a mechanical joint. When the tank is filled, the overflow moves upward as the water rises, pivoting on its articulated joint. When the overflow reaches its maximum level, water suddenly rushes into the overflow, triggering a flush through the drain pipe. The water level drops rapidly until the flow stops at the low level of the tank. The cycle then repeats intermittently and continuously, without any mechanical components or electricity. Depending on the model chosen and its configuration, the discharge flow rate of a FLOUT can vary between 75 and over 900 liters per minute.
FLOUTs are delivered fully pre-assembled in our concrete tanks and can accommodate very small dosing volumes up to thousands of liters at a time. Each FLOUT-type dosing tank can contain one or more spillways, each connected to its own discharge pipe so that several elements can be fed simultaneously. This is ideal for the passive dosing of several infiltration bed cells or absorption trenches.
Depending on the project's dosing objectives and the site's topography, FLOUT can be used to provide entirely passive low-pressure feeding, thereby completely replacing traditional pumping stations. This makes it a preferred solution for remote sites without electricity.

Your questions, our answers
What is the purpose of FLOUT in a septic system?
FLOUT is not a treatment in itself, but it improves the performance of the downstream system by ensuring:
-
Uniform distribution of effluent over the entire surface of the purification element
-
Resting/aerating the filter medium, which helps prevent clogging
-
Longer service life of installations thanks to intermittent dosing.
Does FLOUT require a lot of maintenance?
No. FLOUT is designed for minimal maintenance thanks to its simple and robust design. It is not prone to breakdowns, as it does not rely on complex mechanisms or electrical components.
Does FLOUT require electricity or a pump?
No. FLOUT is 100% passive: it operates without a pump or power supply, which greatly reduces the risk of failure and simplifies operation.
What is a FLOUT (Floating Outlet)?
The FLOUT is a gravity-fed dosing device (floating outlet) that automatically triggers intermittent and regular flushing cycles in a dosing tank. It is known for its simplicity, reliability, and operation without electricity.
Is FLOUT available in different versions depending on flow rate?
Yes. FLOUT is available in a single-outlet version for low flow rates and in multi-outlet versions for higher flow rates.
This ensures uniform distribution across the entire surface of the purification element, even for larger installations.
